Informatie over de avocado

De avocado is een vrucht die steeds populairder wordt. Niet heel gek, want er zijn enorm veel gezondheidsvoordelen aan verbonden. Zo is het erg goed om te eten wanneer je wilt afvallen. Je raakt namelijk erg verzadigd door de avocado en daardoor heb je minder snel last van lekkere trek. Avocado is ook goed voor je immuunsysteem, je zicht en het kan chronische aandoeningen verminderen.

Hoe kun je avocado’s schoonmaken?

Wanneer je niet goed weet waar je mee bezig bent, kan het schoonmaken van een avocado een vervelende taak zijn. Voor je het weet is het een behoorlijke kliederzooi. Gelukkig kan het ook heel gemakkelijk worden geregeld. Maar hoe doe je dat? Het is eigenlijk heel gemakkelijk! Pak een goed, scherp mes en snijd horizontaal en snijd tot de noot. Daarna draai je beide helften in tegengestelde richting. De noot zit dan in één van de helften. Houd deze goed vast, en prik met je mes in de noot. Zo kun je hem gemakkelijk eruit halen. Het wassen van een avocado is niet nodig.

Uit de schil halen

Je kunt de avocado eigenlijk heel gemakkelijk uit de schil krijgen, door deze uit de schil te duwen. De schil is niet hard, en daardoor is dit een simpele taak. Je kunt vervolgens de avocado in plakken snijden. Wanneer je graag blokjes wil maken van de avocado, dan is het beter om niet meteen de vrucht uit de schil te duwen. In dit geval snijd je eerst de blokjes, terwijl de avocado nog in de schil zit.

Daarna duw je de blokjes uit de schil en heb je goede, gelijke blokken. Als laatste zou je ook het vruchtvlees kunnen gebruiken om te pureren. Je kunt dan met een lepel het vruchtvlees uit de avocado halen en met een vork alles fijn prakken. Gebruik je maar één helft van je avocado? Laat de pit dan in de helft zitten die je wilt bewaren en wikkel alles in aluminiumfolie. Doe het dan in de koelkast. Op deze manier kun je de avocado een paar dagen bewaren.

Voorkom dat de avocado bruin wordt

Een avocado die lang buiten de schil zit, kan sneller bruin worden. Dit oogt natuurlijk niet zo fraai, al maakt het voor de smaak lang niet altijd verschil. Wil je voorkomen dat de avocado bruin wordt, dan kan dit heel gemakkelijk met citroensap. Een paar druppels citroensap kunnen al voldoende zijn. Dit is handiger wanneer je bijvoorbeeld een salade maakt waar avocado in zit. Deze wil je toch vaak nog even laten staan. Het laatste wat je wil is dat je gasten denken: ‘bah dit ziet er niet uit’. Citroensap dus! Dit werkt ook goed voor eventueel de appel die eveneens in je salade zit.
